Adjacent to Hong Kong, Macao and
Taiwan, facing South China Sea, with
a total coastal line of 82 km, neighboring
Shantou on the east, Jieyang is an
important communications hub of eastern
Guangdong, western Fujian and southern
Jiangxi. It covers an area of 5240.5

Jieyang's economy has been developing
rapidly, especially in the field of
light industry. Jieyang has vigorously
developed its foreign trade .The Total
value of import and export reached
USD 930 million, increase by 55.6%
over the same period of last year,
of which, the value of export was
USD 680 million, up by 54.5%. Contractual
foreign investment was USD 124 million,
and actually utilized foreign investment
was USD 136million.

(1)Jieyang enjoys favorable investment
environment and developed traffic.
Within its territory, there are No.206
and 324 national highway and many
provincial highways. Shen-Shan Expressway
and Pu-Hui highway have been opened
to traffic. Guang-Mei-Shan Railway
reaches any parts of China. There
are unblocked rivers from where 5000T
freight ships can directly sail to
Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Shanghai.
Land transport and shipment are complete.
Internet, telecommunication and postal
services are available and complete.

competitiveness. There are many new
products with stronger competitiveness.
Especially, litchi and processed vegetables
produced in Huilai, green plum and
olive, Jiao mandarin oranges, flowers
and potted tree produced in Puning,
longan, bamboo shoots, bananas and
wild ducks produced in Jiedong, and
tea, partridges, out-of-season and
pollution-free vegetables produced
in Jiexi have been increasing very
quickly.
(3)Jieyang's industrial economy has
developed vigorously. An industrial
system mainly composed of textile,
garments, hardware and machinery,
chemical industry, food and drink
has formed. The output of these sectors
accounts for above 85% of the industrial
output of the same caliber, which
have large potential for development.
A large quantity of new hi-tech enterprises
are emerging. In particular the field
of textile industry possesses of rather
strong holistic predominance.
